What you see below is an image taken with an atomic-force microscope of DNA engineered to fold into squares. The aim of this project was to maximize DNA adherence to the silicon (dark brown) substrate, which provides the scaffold on which a "nanobiocircuit" might be constructed.
I operated the atomic-force microscope, and wrote the image processing software used to count DNA molecules attached to the surface of the substrate.
