A binary structure that can transition between two configurations. Every wall, floor, and ceiling moves with the building. Walls open to windows, staircases become seating, and what was an open atrium collapses to a double-wide hallway. Spiral staircases move, and new doors open to passerby.
Switching station opens everyday architectural elements to new interpretations. It explores the multitudinous in the face of the mundane.
I like to envision what it would be like occupying this space. How would social interactions transform? Would the dual nature of each wall, ceiling, and floor become commonplace? What would it mean to maintain this characterization of the space on a daily basis?
